Oregon Legislature Out of Touch regarding Taxes
At the exact same time that the National Tea Party was taking place (including the one in Portland, Oregon), the Oregon state legislature was holding hearings on how best to raise taxes, especially on the rich.
Maybe instead of having the Tea Party in Portland, we should taken it to Salem, directly into the legislative chamber.

Gun Lobby Working Overtime to Normalize Abnormal Behavior???
Over at The Gun Guys (what a stupid name, they should be called the Anti-Gun Guys), they recently posted an article that is so full of misinformation and outright lies that it's almost painful to read. So I thought it would be fun to post a rebuttal to their arguments, but they don't provide a means for doing so. In that case, I'll just post the rebuttal here. I'll put their article in bold, and intersperse my comments within their text...
In case you haven't noticed, the pro-gun lobby is working overtime to normalize abnormal behavior.
OK, let's see what they mean by "abnormal" behavior...
Let us ask you a handful of questions.
Would you be willing to:
Sip hot chocolate with your toddler at Starbucks while a fellow patron openly displays a gun at the table next to you?
Umm... What's so abnormal about that? I'd probably get into a conversation with them about their gun.
Attend a church service with your entire family knowing that the fellow parishioner sitting next to you has a handgun tucked in his belt?
Umm... Happens every week. Again, what's so abnormal about that?
Stand in line at a bank to make a deposit as two men enter with baseball hats on and what appear to be guns in their pockets?
This scenario is cool; it would actually make me want to frequent that bank more often as I know that it's a safer bank to go to.
Board a crowded bus with your newborn child with upwards of 5 other passengers carrying concealed weapons?
Again, I don't see anything abnormal about this. In fact, I'd feel more comfortable if everyone on the bus had concealed weapons (including me).
Unbeknownst to most Americans, these scenarios are already perfectly legal in many parts of the United States and are occurring with more frequency and bravado.
Yay America! Oh, wait, you were expecting a different reaction? Sorry, but again, I don't see anything abnormal about people exercising their legal rights.
Next time you take your child on an outing with you, think about how many people within earshot may be carrying a gun as you wait in line at the aquarium, sit in a theater watching a movie, or shop at the local grocery store.
The more that are packing heat, the better.
This is exactly the kind of America the gun lobby is pushing for and creating all around us.
Yay Gun Lobby!
They won't be satisfied until every nook and cranny is saturated with Berettas, Colts and Smith & Wessons.
As someone at FreeRepublic said, "I want some of the crannies to contain Glocks and Rugers. And a nook without a Sig Sauer is somewhat pointless..."
Consider these recent legislative initiatives:
The Arkansas House just voted to allow guns in churches--despite strong opposition from pastors.
Yay Arkansas! Oh, were you thinking that this was something bad? In my state it's legal to conceal carry in churches. If the pastor says not to, then you can't, but that's a choice that the individual pastor has to make - NOT THE STATE! Because it's none of the State's business.
On January 9th, it became legal to carry loaded weapons into national parks after a more than 20 year ban.
Yay National Parks! Now they're more safe.
A bill to allow the open carrying of handguns has been sponsored in South Carolina--one of only 6 states remaining that do not currently allow open carry in some form.
Cool. Looks like South Carolina will be making progress to a return to normalcy. Only 5 more states to go.
Utah allows college students to keep guns in their dorms and carry concealed weapons on campus.
Yay Utah! Looks like a safe place to attend college, to me.
An Illinois panel has recommended that Illinois residents be allowed to carry guns in public--one of only two states remaining that bar the practice.
Finally Illinois is being dragged out of the dark ages. And it took a US Supreme Court ruling to get them to finally get their act together.
A panel in Tennessee has recommended four bills for legislative approval including allowing concealed weapons in playgrounds and bars.
Yay! Safer playgrounds and bars in Tennessee! Why is it that these gungrabbers think that banning weapons in playgrounds and bars make those locations safer? All that this does is make sure that only criminals have guns in those locations, while law-abiding citizens become sitting ducks.
This problem is deadly serious.
Oh, get a clue, you morons.
Guns kill more than 30,000 people in the United States each year.
Let's see... how, exactly, are the guns getting up on their own and killing people? There are very few instances where people die from accidental discharge of a firearm. No, it takes a person picking up a gun and using it to get 30,000. So a more accurate statement is "People using guns kill more than 30,000 people in the United States each year".
So let's look at those 30,000 people... once you take away the instances where criminals (who ignore all the gun laws anyway) kill, and then eliminate lawful shootings by police or armed citizens who kill criminals in the act of committing crimes, there's almost nothing left of the statistic, and very few of those killings would be eliminated by gun bans. So what's the point?
All you would do by making guns less available to law-abiding citizens is make victims out of those law-abiding citizens.
Unless American's wake up to what is happening all around them and take action to stop it, the seemingly far-fetched examples of every day outings turned into repeated encounters with armed citizens will become all to real.
Sorry, but I'm not seeing how the previously mentioned situations are "far-fetched". I think they're not only quite normal, but fully desirable.
After all, leaving decision-making about where and when to use a gun to ordinary citizens packing heat in restaurants, theaters and parks is a frightening prospect.
OK, this is where your entire argument falls completely apart. These ordinary citizens packing heat are not deciding where and when to use their guns. They're wearing their guns in case a criminal comes around, so that they can safely defend themselves and their loved ones. The real frightening prospect is having to face a violent criminal without a way to defend yourself.
Our nation is being held hostage by the gun lobby's extremist agenda.
Our nation is being kept free by the gun lobby's rational, normal and sane agenda. The only extremist agenda is that of the gungrabber lobby.
It's time we turned the clock on this deadly trend
Huh? "turn the clock" To what? It used to be quite normal and acceptable for people to carry guns around even more than is done so today. So what clock do you want to turn?
before America's children are sitting in school with armed teachers and abnormal behavior becomes the new norm.
Exactly why would armed teachers be abnormal? Wouldn't you want your teachers to be able to defend the children in their care from Columbine-style attackers? I would feel that my children were much more safe if their teachers were armed.
What you can do: Contact your local, state and federal legislators and ask them to support stronger gun laws to keep guns out of schools, churches, parks to ensure a safe America for all.
Or not. Since keeping guns out of schools, churches or parks will only make those places magnets for violent criminals who would know that the people in those locations could no longer defend themselves.

Barry's Facade Crumbling
OK, so a little over a month has passed since The Chosen One was inaugurated, and I'm sitting here wondering, what's happened to all the Hope and Change? Aren't we supposed to be witnessing the second coming? Apparently things aren't going so well for B.O.
For one thing, his approval ratings are declining in the polls. Gallup shows that Obama's approval ratings have fallen below 60% with disapproval steadily increasing. Rasmussen Reports' daily tracking poll doesn't show any better numbers - approval is declining, disapproval numbers are steadily increasing. Of course, after only a month, these numbers are hardly indicative, but they do show that the glow is fading quickly.
And why would people become so disillusioned? After witnessing the charade of "openness" as the Stealfromus Package was rammed through Congress, thousands of Americans are joining the numerous Tea Parties which are sprouting up all over the country. Rick Santelli's rant on live TV seems to have gotten a lot of people up in arms. And it's about time, too. Another CNBC commentator, Dennis Kneale, wrote an editorial titled Feel the Dread - that sums up many people's feelings.
Meanwhile, over on the legal eligibility challenge front, Obama isn't faring any better. Two soldiers, an officer and an enlisted man have chosen to defy orders due to POTUS eligibility issues. And a seventh lawmaker has also signed up to support the eligibility suit.
One thing that The One desperately does not need right now is someone else stealing the spotlight. But no luck there for Hussein, Jindal is stealing Obama's thunder both before and after the speech before Congress. The crux of Jindal's message: Obama is irresponsible.
As if all that weren't enough, remember the "homeless" woman that he gave a house to? Turns out, she isn't homeless after all, and is really a real estate investor. Read the article for even more juicy details.
I keep thinking back to a couple of weeks ago with all the to-do about Rush Limbaugh wanting Obama to fail. Looks like maybe Rush is getting his wish.

Steps in the Right Direction for Oregon Gun Laws
Here is a brief overview of 2009 legislation pending before the Oregon State legislature relating to handguns and concealed carry. CHL is short for Concealed Handgun License.
HB 2099 - Provides persons licensed to carry concealed handgun in another state with protections provided to persons with Oregon concealed handgun license. This is powerful - CHL from all other states would be recognized in Oregon. And since many other states have reciprocal CHL provisions in their laws, that would mean that the Oregon CHL would be recognized in many other states as well. Awesome.
HB 2644 - Exempts transferor of firearm from performing criminal history
record check if purchaser or recipient has concealed handgun license. This one makes a lot of sense. Since people have to go through a criminal background check to get the CHL, and since the CHL is invalidated upon being convicted of a crime, being able to flash a CHL while purchasing a gun will make the purchase process a lot smoother. Again, this law makes a whole lot of sense, and cuts back on beaurocratic red tape.
HB 2645 - Requires Department of State Police to destroy records obtained during criminal records check within 24 hours of approval for qualified firearms purchases. Again, I agree with this law. It helps preserve privacy for those who are purchasing handguns. As long as the criminal check comes back OK, why should the police have to keep the records around. Just destroy them. Thumbs up for this law.
HB 2727 - Prohibits public body from releasing information that can be used to identify holder of or applicant for concealed handgun license. Authorizes disclosure for criminal justice purposes and pursuant to court order. And this one deserves an even bigger thumbs up. Unless there are very specific legal reasons for releasing identifying information about CHL holders, this information should be kept strictly private.
HB 2764 - Exempts concealed handgun license records from disclosure under public records law. Requires disclosure of information obtained in connection with concealed handgun license under specified circumstances. Declares emergency, effective on passage. From what I can tell of this bill, it seems to be even more protective of personal privacy than the previous one, and if passed, would require its provisions to go into effect immediately.
Since there are no pending bills that restrict handguns in the current legislative session, I would say that if these bills get passed, then Oregon is moving in a good direction regarding preserving our right to defend ourselves.

And You Thought You were Getting a Tax Break
During the recent presidential campaign, one of my coworkers (a libturd) was constantly harping on and on about how Obama was going to cut taxes for 95% of Americans, but raise taxes for the richest 5%. I, of course, recognized Obama's promise as misdirection at best and an outright lie at worst.
Here's proof that he was lying. Obama wants the Bush tax cuts to expire. That's the same thing as raising taxes. And these tax cuts will affect about 60% of Americans... the same 60% that pay taxes. Or, in other words, the Obama tax hikes will raise taxes for everyone who pays taxes. And they're enough to completely reverse the paltry "tax cuts" that are implemented in the Stealfromus Package.

Random Ramblings for February 21
European Disunion - The EU doesn't have so much "U" after all. Didn't I read about that in the Bible somewhere? Like, maybe Daniel 2:41?
Obama owes $1.7million - Yet another example of how Zero does so much preaching about responsibility, but can't even pay off his own debts to the city that gave him his political start. Dirty Chicago Politics in action.
Hope and Change = More of the Same - Obama comes to same conclusion as Bush: Afghani detainees have no recourse to US court system.
NY wants to make you pay tax... in order to pay tax - One word comes to mind: Disgusting.
Alan Keyes calls Obama a Communist - Wow. I've known that since at least August 2008 when I first started paying attention to what Obama was saying. All you gotta do is listen to him for 5 minutes and you'll come to the same conclusion. Investor's Business Daily (IBD) wrote a 21-part series on Obama's Communism.
People getting more and more pissed off at Obama's irresponsible policies - Do you think that they're finally realizing what Alan Keys and IBD have been saying?

Forwarded Email: Mexico is Angry
I frequently receive email messages from various sources puporting to report on major events that demand our immediate attention and that the message should be passed on to all acquaintances. Some of the messages I receive can be quickly ruled out as false or exaggerated. Sometimes I need to do a little digging to verify statements. In this case, I received the following article, found it quite interesting, then also did follow-up research that seems to indicate that the information presented is factual. I have included some of the links I found after the email message.
Please note that this message was forwarded to me and I did not write the original. I do not know who wrote the original, either, although parts of the message seem to quote a January, 2008 newspaper article from the Tuscon Citizen newspaper. In spite of the information being over a year old, I think that its message is still highly relevant, especially the punchline at the end.
Information about Mexico's Immigration Laws - tougher than what's mentioned in the article.

The shoe is on the other foot and the Mexicans from Sonora don't like it. Can you believe the nerve of these people? It's almost funny.Article from the Tuscon Citizen: Sonoran officials slam sanctions law in Tucson visit.
The State of Sonora is angry at Influx of Mexicans... into Mexico!
Nine state legislators from the Mexican state of Sonora traveled to Tucson to complain about Arizona's new employer crackdown on illegals from Mexico. It seems that many Mexican illegals are now returning to their hometowns and the officials in the Sonora state government are ticked off about it. A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora was in Tucson on Tuesday (2008-Jan-13) to say Arizona's new employer sanctions law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.
At a news conference, the legislators said Sonora - Arizona's southern neighbor, made up of mostly small towns - cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools it will face as illegal Mexican workers here return to their hometowns without jobs or money.
The law, which took effect Jan. 1, 2008, punishes employers who knowingly hire individuals who don't have valid legal documents to work in the United States. Penalties include suspension of, or loss of, their business license.
The Mexican legislators are angry because their own citizens are returning to their hometowns, placing a burden on their state government.
'How can they pass a law like this?' asked Mexican Rep. Leticia Amparano-Gamez, who represents Nogales.
'There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona,' she said, speaking only in Spanish.
'Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs,' she said.
'We are one family, socially and economically,' she said of the people of Sonora and Arizona.
Wrong!
The United States is a sovereign nation, not a subsidiary of Mexico, and its taxpayers are not responsible for the welfare of Mexico's citizens. It's time for the Mexican government, and its citizens, to stop parasitically feeding off of the United States and to start taking care of its/their own needs. Too bad all the US states don't pass a law just like Sonora . Maybe that's the answer, since our own Congress will not do anything!
New Immigration Laws: Read to the bottom or you will miss the message...Too strict?
- There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools.
- All ballots will be in this nation's language.
- All government business will be conducted in our language.
- Non-residents will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here.
- Non-citizens will NEVER be able to hold political office.
- Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs. Any burden will be deported.
- Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount at least equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
- If foreigners come here and buy land... options will be restricted. Certain parcels including waterfront property are reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.
- Foreigners may have no protests; no demonstrations, no waving of a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies. These will lead to deportation.
- If you do come to this country illegally, you will be actively hunted &, when caught, sent to jail until your deportation can be arranged. All assets will be taken from you.
The above laws are current immigration laws of MEXICO!!!
These sound fine to me. Now, how can we get these laws to be America's immigration laws??

Protests. Revolutions. Pork. The Terminator. Murder.
Not all protesters are up in arms over liberal causes. Seems the good people of Denver, Seattle and Mesa (AZ) have staged protests against Porkulus Unstimulosi. Pamela Gellar at Atlas Shrugs has a report and lots of pictures for the Denver and Seattle Protests, while over at Michelle Malkin's blog you can find a report and pictures from Mesa, Arizona, and for the Denver event as well. Gotta love those pictures. Good show, guys!
America's Right reminds us of an earlier article he wrote, but which is just as applicable now as it was back when it was written. In particular, I would point out my agreement that Bush's "Stimulus" and "Bailout" from 2008 were both wrong and the current "Stimulus" is just as wrong, but because it is so much more pork-filled and so socialistic, it is that much more dangerous.
But as Nobless Oblige points out, Democrats own the Pork. It's theirs and we will be able to place the blame squarely on their shoulders when the whole thing comes crashing down. Unfortunately, too many Republican Governors are not standing up to their principles and are coming to feed at the trough. A few of them are saying they want to reject some of what's coming to them, but I don't see any that want to reject it outright, and that's a crying shame.
Speaking of Republican Governors, the Terminator is being forced to terminate a lot of California state employees. It's a long overdue move. Didn't he run for Governor as a way to help California get out of their financial mess? All I can say is Kudos to the brave Republicans in their legislature that didn't give in to the Democrat bullies.
But of all of today's noteworthy news, in my opinion, one of the most important comes from the state of North Dakota. Their House of Representatives passed a law today defining the beginning of human life as starting at conception. This effectively makes abortion an act of murder. And as murder, abortion therefore becomes illegal.

Two Patterns and their Consequences
I have noticed two significant patterns developing.
The first pattern: November 5, 2008 - the day after the 2008 presidential elections, the markets reacted to this news of Obama's win by plummeting. Then, on January 20, 2009 - Obama's inauguration day - markets again dropped significantly. And then, on January 28, 2009, the day that the U.S. House of Representatives first approved the Pork-filled "Stimulus" package, markets posted another loss. Finally, on February 17, 2009, the day that Obama signed the "Stimulus" package, markets yet again showed their disapproval with yet another significant loss.
This pattern of the markets severely reacting to Obama is a clear indicator that investors understand all too well the damage that Obama is inflicting on this country and its financial markets. Atlas is definitely shrugging.
The second pattern: In the 1930s, the government insisted that it was necessary to implement draconian economic measures in order to "stimulate" the economy. As later admitted by economists of the time, their measures failed. Only after resuming responsible fiscal policies was the USA able to fully come out of the Great Depression. In the 1980s in Japan, their government also resorted to significant spending measures to try to "stimulate" the Japanese economy. After 10 years of failure, they abandoned such tactics and in so doing, finally achieved the economic growth that so eluded them during their Lost Decade. In 2008, George Bush reacted to the worsening economic situation first with the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 which "stimulated" the economy by providing tax rebates but essentially failed to provide any real stimulus; and then with a "Bail Out" that was supposed to help the banking and automotive industries. The banks admitted afterwards that they didn't need it, while the automobile manufacturers, after failing to fix the problems that caused their failures, in February 2009 returned to the trough for more swill.
So, with these two patterns clearly forming, one showing a severe distate for anything that Obama does, and the other showing a clear trend of failure whenever governments step in and try to meddle in economic matters, how likely is it that Obama's Economic Interference Bill will succeed in fixing America's economic problems? My guess: Nil at best. Much more likely is that he will only succeed in making things worse.
Try telling him that, however. And in the end, after Obama has been proven to be a disaster, do you think that he and the Democrats will own up to their failure? Not a chance.

Russia and China say our Stimulus Package is Too Dangerous
You gotta love it when even the Commies and former Commies point out just how dangerously communist Obama's Porkfest is.
The Seattle Times quoted this statement from an editorial by China's official news agency:
The Seattle Times quoted this statement from an editorial by China's official news agency:
"History and economics have told us, facing a global financial crisis, trade protectionism is not a solution, but a poison to the solution."And in a speech on Sunday, Vladimir Putin included these choice words:
"Interference of the State, the belief in the omnipotence of the State: that is a reaction to market failures. There is a temptation to expand direct interference of state in economy. In the Soviet Union that became an absolute. We paid a very dear price for that."Just by curiosity, has Obama failed to notice that China's economy started "waking up" about the same time that they allowed free-market capitalism to be introduced?

Back to Chapter 7
Chapter 8 - The Chamber of Socialism is Opened
Voldemort's first press conference to talk about opening the Chamber of Socialism was going well until an unexpected question came up.

Since he didn't have a teleprompter available with a ready answer, Voldemort's smooth-talking rhetoric dissolved into a confused stammer.

Sirius Black, watching the conference from #12 Grimmauld Place along with the rest of the Order of the Phoenix, is highly amused.

Voldemort attempts to take back control of the press conference.

Ginny Weasley, in the meeting with the Order, expresses her outrage at Voldemort's obvious lie.

Dumbledore's picture on the wall moves and Dumbledore speaks from the image.

So the Order of the Phoenix contacts the Gryffindors in the Wizengamot to warn them about the bill and tell them that they should read the bill before allowing it to be voted on. When Voldemort hears of this, he assembles the Wizengamot and addresses them angrily.

Dolores Umbridge invites a few of the Gryffindors over for tea to encourage them to side with Slytherin.

Following this triumph, Voldemort prepares to take a vacation. Wormtail, on hearing of Voldemort's plans, is confused and confronts the Dark Lord.

The Order of the Phoenix, discouraged by this turn of events, gathers to review the damage done by the recently-passed bill. Hermione finds some disturbing elements, and tells the others.

The U.N. Also Getting Stimulated?
First off, this whole "stimulus" package thing is a complete crock. It stinks to high heaven, and it is fair to say that the people who wrote and voted for the bloated porkfest do not have the USA's best interests at heart, and therefore, are traitors. They should immediately be arrested and locked up.
Seriously. I'm that pissed off over this whole malarkey. But as if their treason wasn't bad enough, now Inner City Press is reporting that the U.N. is getting a piece of the pie, and they're not satisfied with what they're getting, and want even more.
WTF?!?
This is totally unconscionable! Not one penny should go to that hotbed of anti-American communist sentiment. Not one penny at all. They shouldn't be receiving what's already in the package, so they shouldn't be crawling to us to beg for more money that will only be used to prop up terrorist regimes and pay the salaries of corrupt government officials.
Every single piece of information that comes out about the Putrid Pile of non-Stimulating Socialist Excrement just makes the whole thing worse and worse.

Pork Pie is "Major Milestone" in Audacity
Obama said today that the Pork-filled "Stimulus" package is a Major Milestone in his presidency.
You've got to be kidding me! Is Obama seriously trying to say that it is a Major Milestone in his presidency when he consigns the next generation of Americans to slavery? I thought Lincoln (who Obama tries to compare himself to) was trying to take us away from slavery.
Does Obama honestly think that taking away Americans' freedom is a Major Milestone in his presidency? I thought Lincoln's intent was to secure our freedom.
How can Obama look Americans in the face and tell them that he has a plan for addressing the budget deficit when the first step in his plan is doubling that very same budget deficit? Didn't Obama campaign on a platform that was critical of Bush's trillion-dollar deficit?
Obama really likes audacity, but this kind isn't the hopeful kind. His latest move (as reported by the Wall Street Journal) is to call a powwow to discuss fiscal responsibility. Now that's audacious. Here's a quote from the WSJ article:
In fact, I don't think that most people really appreciate just how fiscally irresponsible Obama really is. Just to get a tiny picture of how much debt Obama is getting us into, look at this graph provided by the Congressional Budget Office:

Look at the trends there... Bush's tax cuts were helping the economy and the budget deficit was decreasing until the 2008 market decline happened. But even that only returned our deficit to post-911 levels. Obama, on the other hand, is causing a huge drop.

With a $787 billion stimulus package in hand, President Barack Obama will pivot quickly to address a budget deficit that could now approach $2 trillion this year.Did you get that? To address a budget deficit that is primarily caused by himself, he calls a "Fiscal-Responsibility Summit"!!! How on earth can someone so fiscally irresponsible call a "Fiscal-Responsibility Summit"? Talk about duplicity.
He has scheduled a "fiscal-responsibility summit" on Feb. 23...

Speaking Like Comrade Obama
As many people have noticed by now, Comrade Obama's biggest (only?) strength is his ability to make it sound like he knows what he's talking about, even though he never really says anything of any true substance.
That's because Comrade Obama has mastered the art of speaking Beaurocrat, a language specially designed for the skillful art of saying nothing at all. Now you too can learn this language with minimal effort and in a very short time. Just take one word at random from each column below, string the three chosen words together and insert the resulting phrase randomly into your conversation.
After that, the only other thing you will need to become Chairman of the Supreme Soviet are some lessons in Double-Speak, Lying through your teeth and Constitution-shredding.
See Up the Beaurocracy, chapter 14 for more details on speaking Beaurocrat.

Now put the three words together to form the phrase "responsive organizational capability". 1 total quality management
2 overall organizational metrics

4 functional third-gen benchmarks
5 responsive value-added outcomes
6 balanced policy leadership
7 optimal monitored principles

What Would Obama Do?
A few years back, someone came up with the question "What would Jesus do?" as a way of helping people clarify a complex situation so they could decide which is the best course of action to take at important times in their lives. Since then the question has been changed to include many different figures. Recently Obama invoked Lincoln and asked "What would Lincoln do?" Of course, Obama doesn't care at all what Lincoln would do, because, unlike Lincoln, Obama does not care about this country at all.
But that got me to thinking... when making important life decisions, what if a person were to ask "What would Obama do?"
Imagine this scene, if you will: a family is sitting around the kitchen table, destitute. They are in dire financial straits. They cannot pay their bills, or buy food to eat. The parents discuss the situation and find it very bleak. They need to find a way to ease their financial burdens. Suddenly the mother cheers up and says, "What Would Obama Do?" So the father goes around to all the neighbors, steals their money and goes on a spending spree to buy lots of items that they don't need. At the end of the day, they have nothing left and the sheriff shows up to take their kids away as slave labor to work off their parents' debt to the end of their lives.
Here is another scene: the family is planning how they want to deal with their finances. They decide that they need to hire someone to manage their bank accounts. The question comes up: "What Would Obama Do?" So they hire a tax-cheating swindler and put him in charge of their bank accounts.
Our intrepid family appears again. This time they are discussing a gang of thugs who have been terrorizing the town. Fortunately the sheriff arrested the marauders and they are currently sitting in jail. The couple discusses the situation and again ask themselves, "What Would Obama Do?" So they go down to the jail, release the prisoners and tell them to come back any time.
Fade to a new scene with our now-familiar family: the mother is overworked and decides she needs help being more efficient. The father asks her, "What Would Obama Do?" So the mother goes out and hires an efficiency expert who is so efficient, she is also a tax-cheat.
As we visit our friendly family again, we notice that they are smokers. Their habit is pointed out by their neighbors as unpleasant and unhealthy. This causes them much grief, and they ask themselves "What Would Obama Do?" So they tell all their neighbors that they have quit smoking, but continue to do so when no one is looking.
The family decides to attend the local church. Sitting through the first sermon, the realize that the pastor is a firebrand who preaches more about hate, racism and elitism than about Christ. Very disturbed, they consider the inevitable question, "What Would Obama Do?" So they continue attending the same church and listening to the same pastor for the next 20 years.
Just out of curiosity, how long do you think it will be before people are asking "What would Carter do?"

Random Commentary for 2009-02-10
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich had some pretty choice words about Nancy Pelosi in an interview with NewsMax today. Although the whole article is worth reading, I think one thing he said is critical:
"[Republicans should not] worry about the Republican Party. If they worry about America, if they solve problems for America, if they represent the American people, then the American people will take care of them."
That says it all right there. If the politicians were to stop worrying about their party and start paying more attention to the people they claim to represent, then they will do well. I have yet to see a single instance of a Democrat paying attention to America, they're too fixated on themselves. Unfortunately too many Republicans have taken up the same narcissistic tendencies.
So Newt's words are crucial and vital for the Republicans to pay attention to. Stop mucking around with the Republican party - that will take care of itself in its own time. Pay attention, instead, to what America needs - lower taxes, limited government, secure borders.
Obama Press Conference
It went badly. Really badly. So badly, it was like channeling Carter.
Universal Health Care
One comment I'd like to make about Universal Health Care is that it's not universal. And it's definitely not cradle-to-the-grave. Some people mistakenly think that it is, but I know better. In many European countries, once a person reaches a particular age, it's almost like they don't exist any more in the health care system. In Poland, for example, once you reach 70 years old, you better pray that you don't get sick because they can refuse to treat you. I know this first-hand. And I have acquaintances in England and Canada who say it's the same way in those two countries as well.
And wouldn't you know it, it's going to be that way in the USA under Obama's plan.
So, for all you liberal weenies who are just fawning over "universal" health care, you better get yourselves more educated about what you're really getting yourselves into.

Markets Drop. Again.
The markets plummeted. The drop in the major indices was between 4% and 5%. Oh, and did I mention that a big part of that drop occured right when the news came out that the Senate traitors passed the Bloated Pork Pie? Seems the market didn't like that too well. Not surprising, since the markets also plummeted on November 5 when it became known that Obama had won the election. And the markets also plummeted on inauguration day. Are the markets trying to tell Obama something? Is Obama listening? Probably not.

Geithner Fails to Learn Lessons of Japan's Stimulus Failure
The leftists at the NYSlimes published an article on Friday defending the Non-stimulating Porkified Pile of Socialist Excrement. The leftist moonbat "journalists" working for my local newspaper reprinted the article in its entirety, but managed to show off their creative writing skills by slightly rewording the article's title.
Although paying minor lipservice to the fact that some people oppose our current Pork Pie (a few paragraphs contain conservative arguments against increased government spending, but they are tempered by "yes, but..." arguments), the article contains the typical stale communist arguments that are being trumpeted by the Obama administration.
Little wonder that the article sounds like it was written by a Kool-Aid-drinking Obamanut, they glowingly mention how our new Treasury Secretary, Tax-Cheat Tim lived in Japan during their Lost Decade and learned first-hand about Japan's Big Failure. He must have learned so much, in fact, that he's itching to repeat the failure. After all, he's learned why it didn't work for Japan: the Japanese government didn't spend enough, and they spent too much on infrastructure but not enough on Marxist Indoctrination Camps (aka - Schools and Universities). I kid you not...
But then the article turns around and says, even though spending on roads and bridges isn't very helpful... the US should spend on roads and bridges anyway! And why should we do that? Because, as they say,
And as if all of their other libtarded arguments weren't enough, they even make this specious claim (emphasis mine):
And this, of course, suggests that the Communists running our government are already planning a follow-on stimulus.
What the article glosses over, however, is the opinion of the majority of people in Japan (and even neglect to mention that the majority feel this way):

I kid you not...
It matters what gets built: Japan spent too much on increasingly wasteful roads and bridges and not enough in areas such as education and social services.Wow. I'm just stunned. That's brilliant! In spite of the fact that our education system spends more money per student than in any other country on earth (with dismal results), let's spend even more on our schools! Why not! That's gotta stimulate our economy reeeeeeeeeal gooooood!
But then the article turns around and says, even though spending on roads and bridges isn't very helpful... the US should spend on roads and bridges anyway! And why should we do that? Because, as they say,
[The U.S.] neglected its roads, bridges, water treatment plants and more over the years. What?!? You gotta be kidding me. Every year in my county there's some millage or other for spending on roads, bridges, etc. Don't tell me no bull about neglecting infrastructure over the years! That's just plain, unadulterated horse maneuvers.
And as if all of their other libtarded arguments weren't enough, they even make this specious claim (emphasis mine):
Japan's approach failed to accomplish more not because of waste but because it was never tried wholeheartedly.... instead of making one big push to pump up the the economy with economic shock therapy, Japan spread its spending out over several years, diluting the effects. The natural conclusion? We shouldn't be shy about pumping up our "stimulus" package so it's as big and shocking as possible! Or, as the article says: "the current U.S. stimulus will not be enough".
And this, of course, suggests that the Communists running our government are already planning a follow-on stimulus.
What the article glosses over, however, is the opinion of the majority of people in Japan (and even neglect to mention that the majority feel this way):
... spending did little more than sink Japan deeply into debt, leaving an enormous tax burden for future generations.Yup. When it's all over, we will have little to show for our trouble but debt and an even heavier tax burden than what we have now. That's the real lesson to be learned from Japan: government-mandated economic stimulus doesn't work. Why didn't Geithner learn this lesson? Maybe he was too busy figuring out how to cheat on his taxes?

Back to Chapter 6
Chapter 7 - The Dragon
Voldemort's new tactics have produced results. Fear has spread throughout the wizarding community. Even though most people don't want the Basilisk, the Daily Prophet won't oppose it.
Lucius Malfoy, returning from the Wizengamot, comes with an update.

Bellatrix arrives behind Lucius and gloats about their fresh success.

Dolores Umbridge and Lucius Malfoy add their comments.

Everyone in the room erupts in laughter at the foolishness of the three deluded Gryffindors.

However, Nagini does not share in the merriment and hisses at them all.

Although not enthusiastic about using Lockheart, Voldemort goes outside with Wormtail to try and locate the self-absorbed babbler.

Bellatrix scoffs at Wormtail's idea.

Voldemort immediately sets his plan in motion.
The devastation is immediate, causing the Order of the Phoenix to summon an emergency meeting. Hermione explains the situation.

They've named their dragon, "Soros".

A Call for Obama's Resignation
Here is another message forwarded to me. Why am I not surprised that this is happening so quickly after the inauguration?
Mr. Obama,
It is clear that you are irresponsible. While the rest of the country is tightening their belts, you turn up the thermostat in the White House - on our dime. When things go wrong around you, you throw your people under the bus instead of taking responsibility for your own failures.
It is clear that you are incompetent. Instead of seriously considering every option, you automatically rule out useful and valid tools for managing the current financial crisis, like tax cuts which you say have failed - rather, it is not the tax cuts that failed, but a failure to simultaneously reduce government spending that has failed. And it is your own party that opposed the spending cuts.
It is clear that you are corrupt. Even before the election, all of your past associates were communists, criminals or terrorists. Now that you have assumed the presidency, nothing has changed - every single nominee that you have put forward for high office has been tainted with corruption. For someone who is keen to raise taxes, too many of your close associates are tax-cheats. A man can be judged by the company that he keeps and you are constantly in very poor company.
It is clear that you are not a leader. In a situation where you should be providing leadership for the entire country, you engage, instead, in petty bickering - complaining about legislators who oppose you without seriously considering their real and very valid concerns.
It is clear that you do not have the country's best interests at heart. You stop trials against terrorists; you shut down Guantanamo Bay; you come up with an emergency economic stimulus package which contains no emergency measures, nothing to help the economy and nothing stimulating; you cram your socialist "stimulus" package down Congress' throat and try to get it passed without debate; you shut down valid discussion on important topics with the arrogant argument of "I won".
In short, nothing that you have done during just over two weeks of your presidency can be pointed at as an indicator that you are capable of doing your job with any measure of success.
So, Mr. Obama, in light of these failures on your part, I call on you to do the country a favor, and resign.

Bills submitted in 10 States declaring Sovreignty
I just ran across this post by TexasDarlin which quotes this post at Freedom Arizona.
Bills have been introduced in several states declaring 10th Amendment sovreignty. This is big stuff.
Update: World Net Daily also has an article on this topic. They mention eight states with 20 more in the works.

History 101
I received the following via email. Apparently it has been making the rounds.
History 101 (Crash course)
For those that don't know about history ... Here is a condensed version:
Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunter-gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:
1. Liberals, and
2. Conservatives.
Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.
Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.
Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement
Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.
Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.
Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.
Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.
Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.
Here ends today's lesson in world history:
It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before forwarding it.
A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off.
Abandon the Non-Stimulating "Stimulus" Package
Back in the old days tribes would perform elaborate rituals and sacrifices in the middle of Winter in order to ensure that Summer returns. Their priests and leaders engaged in scare tactics in reasoning that the rituals were necessary and that if the rituals were not performed, Summer would not return. One would think that our society has advanced enough that we would no longer engage in such scaremongering practices, but one would be wrong.
Obama and many in Congress are loudly proclaiming that if we don't pass the stimulus package right now, our economy will be permanently damanged. Even some conservatives have started repeating the illogical statement that something needs to be done to rescue the economy.
Over the past several thousand years, whenever integrated economies sprang up, they would always go through periods of boom and bust. It's the natural order of things. There are only four actions that governments have ever taken that have helped during the down periods of economic cycles:
Yet none of these are in the Stimulus Package. Therefore there is nothing in the package that is economically stimulating.
The logical conclusion is that Congress should stop debating the stimulus package immediately, recognize it for the putrid pile of Socialist excrement that it is and then shovel the entire thing down the toilet. Pretending that any kind of increased government spending will have a positive impact on the economy is like pretending that sacrificing a few virgins to a volcano will prevent it from erupting.
Congress needs to remember that government is little more than a leech. The government does not produce anything. The government does not stimulate anything. We abandoned rituals and sacrifices to get Summer to return - we should abandon scaremongering in relation to "fixing" the economy as well.
Big government is not the solution to our problems - big government is the problem.

Obama Votes 'Present' Again
During his stint as a legislator, Obama became quite well known for avoiding issues by voting 'Present' instead of 'Yes' or 'No'. And just like he hasn't kicked his smoking habit, the Comrade-in-Chief hasn't kicked this dirty little habit either.
Fox News reports that Obama is AWOL in the Stimulus debate, but continues to make snide obstructionist remarks from the sidelines about how the Republicans aren't cooperating.
That kind of thing may have made him think he was being cute while he was just another anonymous face in the legislature, but when he's the President, this is totally unacceptable behavior.

Harry Potter and the New World Disorder #6
Back to Chapter 5
Chapter 6 - The Whomping Oak and St. Mungo's Hospital
Voldemort's attempt to impose his Socialist New World Disorder over the Wizarding Community has hit a snag.

A new, previously unknown reporter has shown up and is starting to ask the kind of serious questions that The Daily Prophet has so far failed to ask.

Cries of "Yes We Can!" have suddenly changed to "No We Shouldn't!"

Voldemort is getting desperate. He's trying to come up with any excuse to convince an increasingly hostile Wizengamot to accept his Disorder. But instead of attacking the real problem, his proposals are ineffectual.

Instead of realizing that he is completely inept, Voldemort only gets more angry and storms out onto the grounds. Without paying attention to where he is going, he wanders too close to the Whomping Oak which deftly severs his head from his body.

Conjuring up some Inferi, Voldemort has them hastily reassemble his body and ship it off to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Before chasing after the ambulance, the Inferi give a press conference.

Back at St Mungo's, Voldemort is spending his recovery time by wandering around the hospital and runs across the Odinga wing for the Incurably Insane.

After futile attempts at trying to get in, a nurse points out to him that this is a window and redirects him to a door. He is immediately greeted by a sickeningly cheery voice.

"But it's cold in here!" Voldemort counters.

Hurrying back to the Wizengamot, Voldemort addresses the assembly.

I Don't Get It
Polls show that most Americans disagree with Obama's Non-Stimulus package. Polls show that most Americans disagree with Obama's decision to close Guantanamo Bay. Polls show that most Americans disagree with Obama's decision to allow US funding for overseas abortion providers. Polls show that large numbers of Americans don't expect the Non-Stimulus package to help them in any way at all.
People disagree with major actions that Obama is taking. And yet polls show that 66% of Americans think that Obama is doing a good job.
I don't get it.
Iran and Al Qaeda hate America and issue repeated calls for America's destruction, yet Obama promises direct talks with America's enemies. As their way of showing their appreciation for Obama's goodwill, both Iran and Al Qaeda call Obama weak and repeat their calls for America's destruction. Obama's response? He still wants to talk.
I don't get it.
When I am short on funds, I cut back spending. When Alaska is short on funds, Sarah Palin cuts the budget to rein in spending. When America is short on funds... Obama champions a pork-filled bill that increases spending.
I don't get it.
Biden says that it's patriotic to pay more taxes, yet Democrat after Democrat turns out to be a tax cheat: Timothy Geithner (Treasury Secretary), Charles Rangel (Chairman of House Ways and Means Committee), Tom Daschle (former nominee for Health Secretary), Nancy Killifer (Performance Officer), Al Franken (trying to be Minnesota Senator), Scott Murphy (trying to replace Kirsten Gillibrand in her vacated NY State Legislature seat) and so on.
I don't get it.
Speaking of taxes, Tom Daschle never once voted against a tax increase... yet failed to pay his own taxes.
I don't get it.
The United States spends more money per student in our education system than any other country on Earth. And yet our education system is widely seen as being inadequate. So what do the Democrats do... they put more money for education in the Non-Stimulus bill.
I don't get it.
Obama promises during the campaign that he will carefully review every line of every budget bill that he is given by Congress (even though the President does not have line-item veto power), then says "Let's not let the details get in the way of the spending plan."
I just don't get it.

Obama bin Lyin'
Of course, we know that he's been lying through his teeth since... like... forever. Stealth communist, covering up his associations with Bill Ayers, downplaying his friendship with Rev Jeremiah "God D**N AmeriKKKa" Wright, etc, etc, etc.
Just today, in the current Senate debate over the Porktastic Non-stimulus Bill, he says that there are only "modest differences" between the Package and what GOP senators want (Barry's telling porkies!). And his press secretary claims that discussions center on just $700 million worth of items in the package. Does Obama have rocks in his head, or what? Even other Democrats are saying "We're talking... tens of billions... to exclude from this program." FoxNews has more details.
Does Obama even talk to his own Dementors? Get a clue, dude!
And as for Guantanamo bay... I discussed in an earlier article, that Obama's closing of Gitmo makes no sense. Because in spite of saying that he is putting an end to torture, all this does is close Gitmo, and ship the torture elsewhere. Obama lied again.
He said his presidency would be the most transparent ever. That never even got off the ground. The fog was settling in almost immediately after November 4.
And what about him saying that there would be no lobbyists? Two weeks in and he's already appointed 17 of them. Fibber!
As if all of that weren't enough, he said today that the banking industry needs even more bailout money! Ummmm.... Nope. After the first round the banks admitted that they actually didn't need the bailout to begin with. Obama bin Lyin.
So I'm curious... is it Obama's job to lie? Or am I just being nitpicky when I expect the president to be honest? And am I expecting too much if I want him to tell the truth at least, oh, maybe once a year?
