PETA: Animal-Killing Thugs

And while we're on the topic of tolerance, it seems the jack-booted thugs at PETA are quite intolerant of... ANIMALS! They continue to kill thousands of helpless, innocent pets that people have been unwittingly condemning to PETA's care.

The Center for Consumer Freedom says that in 2008, PETA slaughtered 95% of the animals entrusted to them.

What a bunch of hypocrites.

Chapter 13 - McGonagall's Transfiguration Class

The Gryffindor students entered the class with uncertain expressions on their faces. There was something new in the Transfigurations classroom: a Teleprompter. They didn't have to wait long to satisfy their curiousity, however. Professor McGonagall entered the room and adressed the class.

Ron approached the Teleprompter, and flourished his damaged wand.

The Teleprompter morphed, but not into a rat.

The class erupted in laughter. But they were quickly silenced by further sounds emanating from Voldemort.

McGonagall, disgusted and annoyed, approached.

Seamus Finnegan spoke up and offered an idea.

Sure enough, Hermione's spell worked and Voldemort turned into a rat.

Polish Press Raises Questions about Obama's Eligibility to be President

My in-laws, who live in Poland, told us today that there was a news article on Polish television that raised questions about Obama's eligibility to be President. Based on this, we did a quick search in the Polish press and found a related article on the Rzeczpospolita website.

Here is a rough translation of the article into English:
Is Obama Eligible to be President?

The Conservative organization "Defend Our Freedoms" has sent documents questioning the legality of Barack Obama's presidency to the Supreme Court and Justice Department.

Some conservatives have been claiming for many months that Obama is ineligible to be President. They refer to an article in the US Constitution that the President cannot be a naturilized citizen who was not born in the territory of the USA.

Acording to his official biography, Obama was born in Hawaii, but according to the above-mentioned sources, Kenya (where his father comes from) is the true location of his birth. His mother was born an American, but according to these theories, she couldn't transfer her citizenship to him because she was not of age when Obama was born.

Testimony about Obama's birth, established through several sources, gives the impression that Obama came into this world in Hawaii, which in 1961, when he was born, was already the 50th state of the USA.
Rzeczpospolita is one of Poland's largest daily newspapers.

Update: while we're on the subject, here's an article from Australia that covers the same eligibility question.

Do you want the President to Fail? Bobby Jindal's Answer

This is pure gold. It's an exerpt from Jindal's speech last night:

I've noticed that some of the Democrats in Congress have begun badgering Republican leaders with this question - They simply respond to any criticism of the President by asking - "so, do you want the President to fail? Do you? Do you? Yes or no?"

I'm going to give you a very direct answer to that question in just a minute. I will not disappoint. I will be very direct.

But first, let's take a look at the question, the motive behind it, and what is really afoot here.

The suggestion behind the "do you want the President to fail question" is this - If you don't answer their question with a loud "NO" immediately, if you don't express instant obedience to the question, then you are not really a patriot, and you are essentially trying to undermine America.

Make no mistake, anything other than an immediate and compliant - "why no sir, I don't want the President to fail" is treated as some sort of act of treason, civil disobedience, or political obstructionism.

This is political correctness run amok.

And let's be clear, the very Democrat leaders who are now asking this phony question, are the ones who for so long wanted to see the last President fail, regardless of the issue, and regardless of whether he was right or wrong.

There is a very important role in our Republic for the loyal opposition. And we must be both. We are loyal to this country, and to the Republic on which it stands, one nation under God. And we will always be so. And we are loyal to the President of the United States, whether he is a Democrat or a Republican.

But make no mistake, loyalty does not mean we have to agree with his policies.

And we are also at present the opposition party. We are the party out of power. And it is altogether right and proper, and healthy for our Democracy, for us to speak up when we do not agree with the policies that this President pushes and proposes.

I will not be brow beaten on this, and I will not kow-tow to their political correctness. We will be the loyal opposition.

So, my answer to the question is very simple. "Do you want the President to fail?" It depends on what he is trying to do.

There is something far more important to us than whether the President or ANY politician fails.

Far more importantly, we don't want America to fail.

When and if the President wants to cut taxes on job providers, reduce our national debt, stop the massive explosion of government spending, make good on his promise to seek earmark reforms, govern in a way that is fiscally responsible consistent with his rhetoric in his campaign, and act in a truly bi-partisan fashion, then I want him to succeed and I wish him God speed.

Let me repeat in case anyone misses the point, when and if the President pursues those policies, I do NOT want him to fail, I want him to succeed.

However...

When the President wants to spend our country into interminable debt, putting not only this generation but future generations into a position where the only way out will be massive tax increases, we oppose that policy, not because we want the President to fail, but because we want America to succeed.

When the President wants to increase taxes on small business owners, the very people who create 70% of the jobs in the country, we oppose that policy, because we want America to succeed.

When the President wants to change the law so that taxpayer's money is used for abortions, we say no, because we want all Americans, born and unborn to succeed.

When the President wants to use the stimulus bill as an opportunity to radically grow the size of government, we oppose him because we want America to succeed.

When the President wants to change the rules so that union elections are no longer conducted by private ballot, the way all American elections are conducted, we will not go along, because we want America to have the freedom to succeed.

When the President considers attempts to squelch media outlets that are not favorable to him by pursing the unfair "fairness doctrine", we will not support that policy, because liberty is a key ingredient of American success.

When the President talks about striking the very word "enemy combatant" from our vocabulary, we disagree because we want Americans to succeed in every corner of the world.

When the President pursues polices that spend too much, tax too much, and borrow too much, we will not go along, because we are committed to making sure that America succeeds both now and in the future.

And when the President pursues polices that are akin to those of European socialism, policies that taken too far could cause America to fail, we will oppose, and we will stand up and be counted, and we will do so proudly, not because we want the President to fail, but because we want America to succeed.

And by the way, I make no apologies for any of these positions, and neither should any of you.

Obama's Press Conference

So little Barry finally held a big press conference. Here's Bill O'Reillly's take. I fully agree. Obama was a total bore.

In the press conference, however, Obama said that a lot of people are sacrificing... But that begs the question: Why doesn't HE sacrifice? Why doesn't the GOVERNMENT sacrifice? Individuals are sacrificing, but Obama wants the government to spend money like crazy. He's going to destroy this country.

STOP! JUST STOP! NO MORE!

The Three Stooges (Dodd, Geithner and Obama) are the real cause of the AIG mess

Dodd has admitted to CNN and Fox (and possibly other news media outlets) that he lied about not knowing about the amendment that permitted AIG to pay bonuses that Dodd is now so worked up about. Not only that, but he's pulling Geithner and Obama under the bus with him. He says that the wording wasn't put there on his own initiative, but it was forced on him by the Treasury (ie- Geithner under direction from Obama).

Personally, I don't think that any money should have been given to AIG at all. But when these three stooges get all holier-than-thou over the bonuses, they should take a long hard look at themselves because they caused the mess. After all, Obama was so adamant that the Porkulus be passed without Congress getting the chance to read it. What else is in it that we still haven't found out about?

Oh, and while we're on this topic... why no torches and pitchforks about bonuses for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac execs?

AIG: Obama's Red Herring

The worst presidential administration... EVER. He's dropping in popularity. He's got problems trying to fill cabinet posts - especially at the treasury, it seems no one wants to be associated with Tax-cheat Tim. The economy is worsening, thanks to his communistic Porkulus plan. A poll shows that more than 60% of Americans think that he's bankrupting the country. He can't be bothered to roll out the red carpet properly for England.

With so many problems piling up, what's a president to do? A red herring is needed desperately!

"Oh, I know... let's attack Rush Limbaugh!" Nope. That didn't work. It only made the "O" team look like a bunch of whining kindergarteners. Come to think of it, that's about all they are.

"Ah! Here's another idea... let's attack AIG over their bonuses!" Yet another sleight of hand trick to keep people's attentions focused away from the real issues. Those bonuses were approved by none other than Congressman Deadbeat Dodd and written into the bailout contract by Tax-cheat Tim. Gee, haven't those two guys now become the biggest critics of AIG? What a bunch of economically illiterate hypocrites.

Curiously, AIG is sending money overseas which looks suspiciously like money laundering. Which begs the question... who would they be laundering the money for? Are they engaging in a shell game to pad the pockets of the very people expressing faux outrage over these so-called bonuses? People who know that they are bankrupting the country and need a fall-back plan for when the shoe falls.

The Mainstream Media has taken the bait. Hook, like and sinker! They're joining in the chorus of criticism against AIG, but they're not paying any attention at all to the real problems - Obama and his completely, utterly and irredeemably incompetent administration.

Desperately Seeking Barack

Will the real Barack Obama stand up?

So far Obama has tried to invoke the image of Lincoln (and failed miserably). On the other hand, he has done a good job of repeating all of the worst mistakes of FDR, LBJ, Carter and Clinton combined. You'd almost think that he doesn't have his own personality.

And now, to top it all off, he's trying to pass off an idea that McCain introduced during the elections as if the idea were his own: taxing health care benefits that workers get through their jobs. Except that he leaves off the beneficial part - a tax credit that everyone gets to offset the higher taxes for those who get health care benefits through work, and also provides health care funding for those who don't get work benefits. What's so strange about this is that when McCain made the proposal, B.O. slammed it as being out of touch.

He's also duplicated McCain's "the economy is fundamentally sound" statement - a comment that he made fun of back in September 2008, but repeats seriously as if it were his own idea in March 2009.

Who is this guy, really? Does he have his own personality?

BTW, Obama, if you really want to emulate a good president, how about Reagan: make real tax cuts, and roll back government spending. Now that would be a truly beneficial change to hope for.

Obama-Jugend? (HR1388)

The so-called "GIVE Act of 2009", introduced in the House as HR1388, has a certain number of provisions that cause its youth programs to be eerily reminiscent of the Hitlerjugend and Komsomolets organizations of Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia.

In July 2008, during the presidential campaign, Obama made a comment about a "Civilian National Security Force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the US military. What need is there for such a group? We already have city, county and state police forces, not to mention the FBI, BATF, National Guard and other civilian security organizations. We are already spending millions on these forces.

There is no need at all for any additional Civilian National Security Force.

But now, with the introduction of HR1388, it appears that Obama is making a serious attempt to create just such a group. Reading through the text of the bill (PDF File), you can see that this Youth Volunteer Corps is expected to be quite large. Page 8 indicates that they expect 250,000 members by 2014.

One strange aspect of the bill is that no more than 50% of funding is to come from the Federal Government, with the rest of the money coming from the states, businesses and private donations. How idiotic is that? The federal government forces the creation of a massive program like this then forces the states to pick up the tab?

Another odd aspect of the bill is that special consideration and priority is to be given to applications for funding submitted by "predominantly Black institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, Tribal Colleges and Universities, and community colleges serving predominantly minority populations" (pp 31, 32). And on page 125, they also mention that they will attempt to have 50% participation by "disadvantaged youth".

If there were ever a racist, discriminatory law in the USA, this law qualifies. If there were ever a law that could be misused to create a paramility Komsomolets-style youth organization, this law would be it.

The Appeaser-in-Chief

A year ago I would have found it hard to imagine that a president could be more cowardly and appeasement-minded than Carter (then again, a year ago I would also have found it hard to imagine that it was possible that a president could be worse than either Carter or Clinton). But Carter must be breathing more easy (in a libtarded, America-hating manner) now that he knows that there's someone worse than himself occupying the Oval Office.

Apparently, foreign countries can smell the fear and weakness in Obama, kind of like wolves can smell weakness in their prey. Since the Appeaser-in-Chief has taken office, bullies around the world have become more brazen in their attempts to challenge B.O.'s authority.

Don't believe me? Take a look through this list:

  • China has been harrassing US Navy Ships
  • Russia is saber-rattling over Georgia and Eastern Europe
  • The Taliban's power in Pakistan has been rising
  • Iran is becoming more beligerent than they were during Bush's presidency
  • Muslim minorities in England, France, Germany and Scandinavia are waging near-warfare with impunity against the native majorities in those countries
  • Drug Lords have launched an all-out war against the Mexican government
  • North Korea is threatening war over a satellite launch
  • And to top it all off, Obama can't even be bothered to observe diplomatic niceties for America's closest ally.
Wasn't Biden supposed to have been chosen as V.P. to cover for The One's lack of international experience? Where is the Gaffe-er and why isn't he helping? Probably because he'd be more of a hindrance.

Could it be that B.O. is trying to drag us back into the Chicago swamp? It's enough to make you believe in devolution.

I really got a kick out of that stupid contest that the leftist moonbats came up with for creating a snarky anti-Rush billboard slogan. Yes, I know that liberal Marxists are generally a pretty stupid lot, but the winning slogan... it's just plain laughable. Do these people realize how petty they are?

Get this: "America Didn't Vote for a RUSH to Failure"

More Chinks in the Armor

As expected, the leftist media is starting to publish articles critical of The One. After all, the honeymoon never lasts forever, and they can't keep covering up for his incompetence.

Newsweek published an article titled Presidential Double-Talk in which they blame Obama for the current economic situtation. Well, duh! Yes, they mention that the downturn started before B.O. took office, and they're right about that. What they don't point out is how it was Socialist policies like those Obama is trying to foist on America that caused the downturn.

And, of course, by now many people have heard of the Cramer-Obama spat. It's heating up and Cramer is sticking to his guns. Read the whole article. I don't agree with everything that Cramer says (specifically I disagree with raising tax rates on people just because they're successful), but his comments on the difference between the Bush administration's response to criticism and the Obama administration's response to criticism are very telling. Most importantly, however, as much as I may or may not agree with what Cramer has to say - he has the right to say it and Obama's goons have no business attacking him over it.

I mean, really, now... Obama is attacking Rush and Cramer when he has so much more important things to be doing?

Most Incompetent President Ever.

NOW McCain Wants Big Banks to Fail

During the 2008 presidential campaign, John McCain demonstrated just how different he isn't from Obama by suspending his campaign to help get Bush's irresponsible Bank Bailout bill passed. By demonstrating how much of a "me too!" attitude he has, he showed America that he wasn't any better than Obama. He even said that the big banks were too important to America to fail and that we had to do something right away.

What a waste.

Because now, McCain says the big banks should fail. On FoxNews, McCain said that Obama's response was inappropriate because,
I don't think they made the hard decision and that is to let these banks fail.... unfortunately, the shareholders and others will take a beating.
You know something, John... your comments are too little, too late. Yes, it is hard when investors take a beating. Yes, it is difficult on the economy. But that's the way the free markets work! That's the way we did it in this country for over a hundred years and we did just fine without any government interference.

Why couldn't you have stood up for your principles a few months ago and shown the American people some real backbone?

What a waste.

Era of "False Hope and Loose Change"

Remember the "Where's the Beef?" commercials? Those commercials have been running through my mind lately, except now it goes like this: "Where's the Hope?"

Obama's campaign promised lots of hope, but post-racial America has only produced brazen bigots who laugh at anyone who tries to invoke racial harmony in Obama's name.

Obama's campaign promised lots of hope, but all we're doing is aspiring to mediocrity.

Obama's campaign promised lots of hope, but his boorish thuggery is insulting the Brits and offending Europe

Obama's campaign promised lots of hope, but all he's delivered is a sinking economy. Call it the Obama Panic of 2009.

Welcome to the Era of "False Hope and Loose Change".

The Real President: A Teleprompter

Those of us who were not Hopenetized by Obama's socialist claptrap have known for a long time that Obama isn't all that great of a speaker sans Teleprompter. In fact, whenever he doesn't have access to his crutch, Obama hems and haws something awful. His stumbling manner was blithely overlooked by the MSM throughout the campaign and even up to now. However, Obama's addiction is so bad that even Politico.com is reporting on it. Makes you kindof wonder whose is really coming up with these nice speeches - and who's the real President.

One thing is for sure, however: Jesus and Lincoln never had teleprompters.

Update on Handgun-related bills pending in Oregon Legislature

For those interested in these bills, the Oregon Legislature has an Online Agenda of committee meetings.

The agenda shows that there are several bills relating to handguns that are scheduled for discussion in committee meetings.

House Bills 2644, 2645, 2727 and 2991 are scheduled for House Judiciary Committee meetings on Tuesday March 10 at 1:00 pm in room 357. All four of these bills contain provisions that are favorable to freedom-loving, patriotic and law-abiding handgun owners.

A fifth bill, HB 2463 is scheduled for Judiciary Committee working session on Thursday March 12 at 1:00 pm in room 357. This bill is also a good bill as it provides individuals from other states with concealed carry licenses the same protections as provided to Oregon CHL licensees.

Kudos to the legislators who introduced these bills.

Obamanomics: Not His Fault?

I don't get it. In talking with the liberals around me, they're all saying that they disapprove of the stimulus package, they disapprove of how the markets are moving, they disapprove of how Washington, DC politics are playing out, but no matter how bad things get, they always say about Obama, "It's not his fault."

Are you kidding me?!? Of course it's his fault! Bush is gone already. Democrats are in charge of the House and Senate. Whatever Obama wants, he gets (with a few obligatory squeals of opposition from the Republicans, of course, but they can't do much about it). Every time Obama says or does anything, the market drops. Even the Wall Street Journal says it's Obama's fault:
From punishing business to squandering scarce national public resources, Team Obama is creating more uncertainty and less confidence -- and thus a longer period of recession or subpar growth.
And instead of coming up with a responsible approach to the floundering economy,
Most of his "stimulus" spending was devoted to social programs, rather than public works, and nearly all of the tax cuts were devoted to income maintenance rather than to improving incentives to work or invest.
And how have the markets responded to Obamanomics?
The market has notably plunged since Mr. Obama introduced his budget last week, and that should be no surprise. The document was a declaration of hostility toward capitalists across the economy.... Stocks have dived on fears of new government mandates and price controls. Private lenders to students have been told they're no longer wanted. Anyone who uses carbon energy has been warned to expect a huge tax increase from cap and trade.
The article concludes that Capital has gone on Strike against Obama. What an apt expression: Capital has gone on strike!

But what are they striking against? Obama's policies, of course.

I can hear those liberals desperately trying to avoid reality: "Oh, but it's not his fault!"

Style, Substance, Conservatism and post-CPAC Thoughts

I didn't attend the CPAC conference, but, thanks to the Internet, I got to see a lot of the speeches. Thoroughly loved a lot of what I saw. Rush's speech was spot on. And Ann Coulter had me laughing so hard my ribs hurt. Some excellent speeches from quite a few others well: Jonathan Krohn, Mike Huckabee, etc..

One of the things I noticed before CPAC was that people kept talking about "redefining conservatism". But I kept asking myself over and over... why would we need to redefine conservatism? What's wrong with it that makes it out of touch? But that's just the problem... we don't need to redefine it at all, and it is not out of touch. Conservatism is still relevant.

So what is the problem, then? Several of the speakers at CPAC answered this question very well. Part of the problem is that many politicians have lost sight of what conservatism is. Another part of the problem is that as society changed, how we present our values to America hasn't changed. We don't need to redefine conservatism, we need make sure that our politicians accurately reflect our values and we need to redefine how we present our values to the rest of the country. We shouldn't try to coax liberals into becoming conservatives. We should try to win Americans to conservatism.

It is a sad fact that the majority of Americans don't pay that much attention to politics. Liberals take advantage of this and present themselves as middle-of-the-road centrists. Unfortunately this act gets them votes.

For this reason, it is important for conservatives to communicate with America in a way that America understands. The new media is an important part of this, and I have seen many conservative bloggers have done an excellent job in communicating core values through their articles and postings.

But more than just simple blogging, others like Alfonzo "Zo" Rachel and Erin Bonsteel have been sharing their own talents and I think their areas of Video Blogging and Political Cartooning can contribute as well (BTW: Both Zo and Erin are featured in PJTV reports).

As important as Rush and Ann are and will continue to be for some time, I think that it would be helpful in spreading the conservative viewpoint if we were to cultivate our Zos and Erins more. After all, America is changing, and although Conservatism still consists of the same core ideas and ideals, how we bring our message to America needs to evolve to keep up with how America communicates.

Unfortunately when trying to win votes, it often boils down to style and substance. Conservatism is full of substance, but we also need to have style.
